Lifelong Dancer | Used Pilates to Heal Her Hip, Back, and Knee Pain
I currently live in Brooklyn, NY to pursue an acting career. I’m Parker Chakales’ younger sister (an instructor here at Beyond Pilates),
and I volunteer with a cancer support community called Red Door Community where I teach their members Pilates, & I’m newly learning how to fly trapeze.
I joke that I got into Pilates because I do everything my big sister does, which is half true (my sister is Parker Chakales - an instructor at Beyond Pilates). But I also fell in love with this work because
Pilates helped my own body heal from hip, back, and knee pain.
I love helping people make connections in their body and discover new things that their body is capable of doing.
I understand how mental blocks can get in the way of a client being able to overcome a challenge,
the fear that stands in the way of reaching an important goal.
I’ve been there so many times that I feel like I can help a client overcome mental roadblocks through encouragement and options to modify the movement if necessary.
I’ve been teaching Mat Pilates since 2017, and I’ve become immensely creative in keeping my sessions challenging while only using one’s body weight (or small props if the client has them at home).
I have come to understand the importance and benefits of joint mobility and dynamic/active stretching so I always incorporate these modalities into my sessions. The things that look easy to do, but are quite challenging when executed correctly are my favorite way to keep a client interested and engaged.
I have a lot of experience teaching mat work remotely
during Covid-times and beyond. I have a large and diverse repertoire, so every session is different!
